Preview: Bowie Volunteers vs. South Grand Prairie Warriors

The Bowie Volunteers will head out on the road to face off against the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Two weeks ago, Bowie earned a 28-21 victory over Arlington.

Bowie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Darrion Bowers out in front who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Bowers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafeald Campbell, who gained 142 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 24-17 victory over Arlington.

South Grand Prairie relied on the efforts of Daylon Brooks, who rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown, and Jaden Stanley, who gained 199 total yards and two touchdowns. Stanley's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards.

Their wins bumped Bowie to 5-2 and South Grand Prairie to 3-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Bowie has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 244.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Grand Prairie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Bowie suffered a grim 33-13 defeat to South Grand Prairie when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Bowie, Ahmahn Newberry (who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
