Willamette fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against North Eugene on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Highlanders. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jadynn Ireland spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Sophie Robins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Roseburg faced Century in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Roseburg walked away with a 4-1 win over Century. The victory was just business as usual for the Indians, who after six games remain undefeated this season.
Roseburg also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jasmine Morales gave up a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Morales has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ciera Singleton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Terra Singleton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Having lost for the first time this season, Willamette fell to 5-1. As for Roseburg, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willamette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. However, it's not like Roseburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Willamette suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Roseburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Willamette avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
