Basketball Recap: West Florida Baptist Academy Comes Up Short

West Florida Baptist Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Saturday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Gulf Shores Dolphins an easy 64-44 win. The Conquerors' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Despite the defeat, West Florida Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Olivia Pearce dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pearce has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryse Burkett, who posted seven points in addition to six steals and five assists.

West Florida Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Gulf Shores, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

After both having extra time off, West Florida Baptist Academy and Santa Rosa Christian will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. West Florida Baptist Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Gulf Shores, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Walton Beach on Friday. Fort Walton Beach will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Gulf Shores surely won't give up without a fight.
