Softball Game Preview: Mater Dei Monarchs vs. Orange Lutheran Lancers

The Mater Dei Monarchs will venture away from home to challenge the Orange Lutheran Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Mater Dei has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, it was close, but Mater Dei sidestepped JSerra Catholic for a 3-1 win. That's two games straight that the Monarchs have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Orange Lutheran made easy work of Downey on Saturday and carried off an 11-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Kai Minor was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Madelyn Armendariz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Orange Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Orange Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
