Softball Recap: Wheaton Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wheaton Academy extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 3-3 in the process. They beat Chicago Hope Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Tati Chavez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Olivia Stary was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reese Dryfhout, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wheaton Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .565 or higher in three consecutive contests.

As for Chicago Hope Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Chicago Hope Academy's side, Xochitl Rodriguez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Emma Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
