Soccer Game Preview: Service vs. Wasilla

The Service Cougars will challenge the Wasilla Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Service heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Juneau-Douglas by a score of 2-1. Service's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Wasilla faced West Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors came up short against the Eagles, falling 4-0. Wasilla haven't had much luck with West Anchorage recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Service's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7-2. As for Wasilla, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9-3.

Service came out on top in a nail-biter against Wasilla when the teams last played on May 14th, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
