Basketball Recap: Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech was the 41-33 winner over Franklin Towne when they last played one another back in January of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech Panthers took a 78-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Towne Warriors on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (57), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech lost, don't look at Cedrick Brown Jr. Despite the final result, he posted 31 points along with seven boards and three steals. The game was Brown Jr's third in a row with at least ten points. Semaj Brown was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Franklin Towne was led to victory by Carlo Quattrone and Nyel Waters. Quattrone had 18 points and five boards, while Waters scored 17 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Waters a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Louis Marchino, who earned 12 points.

With the loss, Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. As for Franklin Towne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.

Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech will be playing at home against Science Leadership Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Franklin Towne, they will welcome Penn Treaty at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Penn Treaty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.
