Basketball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. Northwood Chargers

Chatham Central hasn't had much luck against Northwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chatham Central Bears will welcome the Northwood Chargers at 6:00 p.m.

Chatham Central is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Falls Lake on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chatham Central took a blow against Falls Lake, falling 58-26. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-12.

Defeat or not, Chatham Central got some senior leadership from Chloe Scott and Karaleigh Dodson. Scott posted 13 points, while Dodson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. Dodson has become a key player for Chatham Central: the team is 11-4 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. Carlee Callahan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Northwood humbled Cummings with a 60-12 victory. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Northwood and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.5 points over those games. As for Chatham Central, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
