Softball Preview: Florida State University High School Seminoles vs. North Florida Christian Eagles

Shyla Wiley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. Wiley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Wiley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Like Florida State University High School, North Florida Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabrielle Hughes. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hughes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Stone, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Reece Sparkman was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.

Florida State University High School's record is now 5-8. As for North Florida Christian, their record is now 6-8.

Florida State University High School beat North Florida Christian 7-3 in their previous meeting back in March.
