The Clarksville Academy Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Beech Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Clarksville Academy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Clarksville Academy blew Dickson County out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Dickson County got their revenge. Clarksville Academy fell just short of Dickson County by a score of 6-4.
Colton Wallace was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Wallace was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Wallace wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jalon Page, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Beech made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rockvale on Wednesday. Everything went Beech's way against Rockvale as Beech made off with a 12-2 victory. With that win, the Buccaneers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Reece Hall looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Kaden Powell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Beech's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Jackson Kennedy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
The victory got Beech back to even at 4-4. As for Clarksville Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clarksville Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Beech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
