Soccer Game Preview: Permian vs. San Angelo Central

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Permian face off against the San Angelo Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

San Angelo Central better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Permian really gets things going. Permian's defense stepped up to hand Odessa a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bronchos are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Angelo Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past Midland Legacy 4-1 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bobcats needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Permian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. San Angelo Central's win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Permian was able to grind out a solid victory over San Angelo Central in their previous matchup on February 7th, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Permian since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
