Baseball Recap: Elsinore Finds Playoff Glory Versus Covina

With a playoff win on the line, Elsinore rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Covina Colts a 4-0 shutout. The Tigers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Brayden Stankus tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ivan Huerta, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Willeford, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Elsinore is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Covina, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
