Softball Recap: Plant Panthers vs. Sumner Stingrays
Plant came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to the Sumner Stingrays. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 8-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.
Plant saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lila Arcos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Arcos snagged this season.
Plant's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Sumner, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plant will head out to square off against Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Sumner, they will head out on the road to face off against Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
