Basketball Recap: Mountain Crest Comes Up Short

Mountain Crest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 74-52 to the Ridgeline Riverhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Riverhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-67 back in January.

Defeat or not, Mountain Crest got some senior leadership from Tayton Martinson and Kael Muir. Martinson went 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds, while Muir posted 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Muir a new career-high in boards (four). Another player making a difference was Trey Cooper, who had eight points.

Dawson Low continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeline, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine assists. Cam Earl was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points.

Mountain Crest's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Ridgeline, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Mountain Crest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-69 defeat against Uintah on the 12th. As for Ridgeline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-44 win against Hillcrest on the 15th.
