The New Richmond Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Purcell Marian Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Richmond is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Wilmington on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-2 win. The Lions not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 11-0).

Hunter Ashley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of New Richmond's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Trey Davis was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
New Richmond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Purcell Marian came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Western Hills by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday.
Sonny Ward made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Ward was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ronan Ribar, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Eugene Ingram also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
New Richmond's record is now 7-9. As for Purcell Marian, their record now sits at 3-9.
New Richmond beat Purcell Marian 8-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
