Roosevelt had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Etiwanda Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since September 17, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Roosevelt got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 14-25, 25-15, 7-25, 15-5.

Despite the loss, Etiwanda saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kamryn Andrews had 21 assists and seven digs. Andrews is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 21 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Meaalofa Tauaese, who had ten assists and five digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Etiwanda fell to 2-1.

Coming up, Roosevelt will challenge Great Oak at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Etiwanda, they will square off against Harvard-Westlake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
