Soccer Game Preview: Proviso West vs. Northside

The Proviso West Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Northside Mustangs at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday. Proviso West's last six matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, Proviso West didn't have quite enough to beat Wheaton North and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Proviso West came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Wheaton North are ranked 239th).

Meanwhile, Northside and Prosser finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Friday. The outcome might've been different if Pidwee Guaman hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Northside's goal came courtesy of Filip Zakrzewski, who's now up to nine this season.

Proviso West's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-1. Northside's draw gives them a new season record of 8-2-2.
