Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Bloom's Winning Streak

Bloom dropped their record down to 12-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Kankakee Kays by a score of 10-9. The Blazing Trojan were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Kays earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Alexandria Cowan put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

Cowan wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabrielle Cowan, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Another was Aryana Knaack, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

As for Kankakee, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games.

On Kankakee's side, Kylie Glogowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaleah Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kylee Cunningham was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

While Bloom had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
