While Zionsville's victory against Western Boone wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Stars 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Stars: they've now won eight in a row.

Liv Reid and Kristin Evers dominated on the mound. Reid tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits, while Evers pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Evers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Maddie Benedict and Abbie Geib did most of the damage at the plate: Benedict went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Geib went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Geib has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Kohler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Zionsville's record now sits at 15-3. As for Western Boone, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Coming up, Zionsville will face off against Guerin Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Western Boone, they will challenge Frankfort at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stars are facing the Hot Dogs at the right time seeing as the Hot Dogs are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
