Basketball Recap: Howland Drops Highest Score of Season Against Boardman

Howland scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Boardman Spartans. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Howland still got an impressive performance from Steven Bubon, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 24 points. Bubon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Darren Douglas was another key player, going 6 of 13 en route to 14 points.

Howland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Boardman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howland will host Ursuline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ursuline's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matchups. As for Boardman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poland Seminary will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Boardman surely won't give up without a fight.
