Baseball Game Preview: Bourne Canalmen vs. Seekonk Warriors

The Bourne Canalmen will take on the Seekonk Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Bourne hasn't scored more than a single run for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Case hit Bourne with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Canalmen lost 10-1 to the Cardinals.

Bourne saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luca Finton, who went 1-for-2 with one double. James Crowell was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Seekonk and Fairhaven, and Seekonk kept the tradition alive. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since June 11, 2024.

Cole Arruda tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Bourne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Seekonk, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bourne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seekonk struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Bourne suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Seekonk when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Canalmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
