Basketball Recap: Fullerton Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Fullerton had won four straight home games dating back to last season and Kane Wetovick did his part to make it five on Friday. The Fullerton Warriors enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over the Heartland Huskies thanks in part to Wetovick, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 17 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fullerton's points.

Despite the loss, Heartland still got an impressive performance from Maddox Regier, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Regier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Thane Wetjen, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Fullerton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Heartland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Fullerton will host Elgin/Pope John at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elgin/Pope John will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Fullerton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Heartland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-39 defeat against Cross County on the 11th.
