Football Recap: Karnes City Badgers vs. Yorktown Wildcats
Karnes City gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They put the hurt on the Yorktown Wildcats with a sharp 36-14 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Badgers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Savion Nixon-Thompson went supernova for Karnes City, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. Nixon-Thompson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 64 yards.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Metting, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.
Karnes City will take on Poteet on Friday. As for Yorktown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Banquete on Friday.
