Basketball Recap: Owyhee Skates Past Carlin with Ease

There's no place like home for Owyhee, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Carlin Railroaders, posting a 64-28 win. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Owyhee found their leader in freshman Makayla Estevan, who went 13 for 19 en route to 25 points and five boards. Alaisjah Sam was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 steals.

Owyhee was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Carlin still got an impressive performance from Kylie Kennedy, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. That was a full 35.7% of Carlin's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Jeffries, who earned six points.

Owyhee's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Carlin, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Owyhee has already played their next contest (against Lund), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Carlin will take on Jackpot at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Carlin is facing Jackpot at the right time seeing as Jackpot is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
