Basketball Game Preview: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. Chatham Charter Knights

Cornerstone Charter hasn't had much luck against Chatham Charter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home court against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Chatham Charter took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cornerstone Charter, who comes in off a win.

Cornerstone Charter is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-16 victory over Central Carolina Academy. The team accrued 49 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Cornerstone Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charles Walker, who shot 77% from the field on his way to 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Walker is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Shaffrey, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Chatham Charter was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 54-50 to NCSSM: Durham.

Cornerstone Charter will have to keep a close watch on Breylan Harris and Ethan Cheek, a pair of players who had a big impact on Chatham Charter's prior game. Harris went 6-for-10 en route to 12 points and three blocks, while Cheek posted 14 points. Cheek also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Joshua Siler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Cornerstone Charter took a serious blow against Chatham Charter in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 83-51. Thankfully for the Cardinals, Beau Harvey (who shot 53% from the field to rack up 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time.
