Softball Recap: Providence School Takes a Loss

Providence School came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Clay Blue Devils, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in March.

Ava Dimitrakopolis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Providence School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayleigh Cardona, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Abby Batsch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Providence School has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Clay, their record now sits at 14-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence School will venture away from home to take on Bolles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.61 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clay, they will challenge Palatka at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
