Baseball Recap: Seton Catholic Comes Up Short

Seton Catholic had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Blue River Valley Vikings, falling 13-4. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Seton Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Himes, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Blue River Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Blue River Valley's side, RYLAN KRAUS was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. What's more, KRAUS posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Blue River Valley got a massive performance out of EVAN ZENTZ, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. KYLER KECK was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Seton Catholic will head out to challenge Wes-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blue River Valley, they will be playing at home against Centerville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
