Preview: Westminster Christian Wildcats vs. New Hope Indians
Westminster Christian has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The New Hope Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Westminster Christian's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Friday, Westminster Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Priceville, taking the game 36-29.
Brandon Musch had a dynamite game for Westminster Christian, rushing for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, New Hope's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 49-7 loss at the hands of Randolph School. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, New Hope couldn't push the score so high this time.
Westminster Christian's victory was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Kate Duncan Smith DAR and 1-8 Madison County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.7% over those games). As for New Hope, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Westminster Christian against New Hope in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 46-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westminster Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
