Basketball Recap: Franklin's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Franklin was feeling good fresh off their 72-48 takedown of Elk Grove last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Franklin Wildcats took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Trail Mustangs on Friday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 18-13 in the first quarter.

Franklin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jacob Juarros, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points along with six assists and six rebounds. What's more, Juarros also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Aiden Rollins was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Juarros wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Franklin was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Monterey Trail got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rashawn Inglemon out in front who went 9 of 15 en route to 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devaughn Dorrough, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Franklin's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4. As for Monterey Trail, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-49 win against Laguna Creek on the 27th. Monterey Trail has also already played their next matchup, a 77-48 victory against Pleasant Grove on the 27th.
