Volleyball Recap: South Garland Takes a Loss

South Garland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 42nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Wylie Pirates, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-6, 25-4.

Wylie was led to victory by Olivia Royal and Jolene Bao. Royal had three digs and three aces, while Bao had six digs and five aces. Royal is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Berkeley Weidinger, who had nine assists and four digs.

South Garland's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Wylie, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, South Garland and Wylie will both be playing Lakeview Centennial the next time they take the court. The Pirates will host the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Titans will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
