I Section III recap October 22, 2013
Mountain View took down Mesa 42-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. John Clark threw for 423 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 17 yards during the win.
Desert Mountain and Skyline played the most contested game in I Section III this week, with Desert Mountain eventually emerging with a 50-49 victory. Kyle Allen threw for 355 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 64 yards in the win.
Francisco Avitia was a force in the backfield as the Coyotes lost to the Wolves.
Clark Brown had an awesome week catching the football as the Toros topped the Jackrabbits. He caught 11 passes for 240 yards.
Clark put up the best numbers through the air as Mountain View beat Mesa. Clark's favorite target this week was Brown, who caught 11 passes for 240 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Chad DeGrenier's team's Clark and Brown have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Clark has thrown for 2,381 yards this season, while Brown has 58 catches for 1,150 yards. Taren Morrison from Desert Ridge leads the league in rushing with 1,370 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Toros and Red Mountain. Mountain View enters the game ranked 16th in the state, while the Mountain Lions ranks 17th.
Kelley Moore's team's Turrell Pietz-Noble needs only 42 yards against Skyline next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 127 carries Pietz-Noble has accumulated 958 yard this year.
Desert Mountain led I Section III in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Angelo Pauffumi's team. Allen ran for 64 yards during the win.
