Recap: First Flight Nighthawks vs. NC GBB Academy National Eagles
After flying high against the Wheatmore Warriors on Thursday, the First Flight Nighthawks came back down to earth. First Flight took a serious blow against NC GBB Academy National on Friday, falling 81-51.
Mason Dobie and Carson Hahne certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Dobie scored 14 points, while Hahne scored ten points. The match was Dobie's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayton Heath, who scored five points.
First Flight has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for NC GBB Academy National, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
First Flight won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Ben L. Smith at 3:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. The timing is sure in Ben L. Smith's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while First Flight has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. NC GBB Academy National will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Ragsdale at 6:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Ragsdale has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
