Recap: Cornerstone Christian Cougars vs. California School for the Deaf Eagles
The Cornerstone Christian Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 85-42 victory over California School for the Deaf on the road. That 85-42 margin sets a new team best for Cornerstone Christian this season.
Cornerstone Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AJ McCoy led the charge by scoring 14 points. The contest was McCoy's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Marcus Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Cornerstone Christian pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for California School for the Deaf, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Cornerstone Christian will head out on the road to face off against Making Waves Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Making Waves Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 857th, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 357th). California School for the Deaf and Model Secondary School for the Deaf will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
