Soccer Game Preview: Gaffney vs. Myrtle Beach

The Gaffney Indians will head out to challenge the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gaffney's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Gaffney lost 5-1 to Eastside on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Gaffney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Eastside are ranked 15th).

Gaffney's goal came courtesy of Sergio Vargas, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Myrtle Beach's matchup on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Conway. Myrtle Beach found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: three Myrtle Beach players were handed yellow cards.

Gaffney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1. As for Myrtle Beach, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
