Baseball Recap: Tampa Prep Victorious

While Tampa Prep's victory against St. Petersburg Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tampa Prep Terrapins skirted past the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons 8-6. That's more bragging rights for the Terrapins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nick Angelone and Koy Fogg dominated on the mound. Angelone pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Fogg tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tampa Prep is 2-1 when Fogg allowsone or fewer hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Derek Stiglich was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Tampa Prep and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Tampa Prep will head out on the road to square off against Bell Creek Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carrollwood Day at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (St. Petersburg Catholic 4, Carrollwood Day 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
