Basketball Recap: Wilson Christian Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wilson Christian Academy came into Friday's matchup having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 57-40 win over the Halifax Academy Vikings on Friday. The Chargers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

When it comes to explaining why Halifax Academy lost, don't look at Landon Peoples. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Peoples is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Boone, who posted six points.

Wilson Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Halifax Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wake Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Halifax Academy will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Thales Academy Rolesville at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
