Baseball Recap: Veritas Prep Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Veritas Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes by a score of 7-4 on Thursday. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2018.

Logan Cortes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Cortes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Cortes wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cade Huseth, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Kellan Jacobs also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Veritas Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veritas Prep will square off against Heritage Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they will be playing at home against Gilbert Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
