Jay Cole Williams leads a balanced attack to beat Vardaman

Recap: Bruce Trojans vs. Vardaman Rams

On Thursday, the Bruce Trojans's game was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They escaped with a win against Vardaman by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Bruce got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jay Cole Williams out in front who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ankavious Glass, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Bruce's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Vardaman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Bruce is on the road again on Thursday and play against Wheeler at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Vardaman won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Pontotoc at 10:30 a.m. on December 22nd. North Pontotoc has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 180 points over their last three contests.
