Softball Recap: Northwood Has No Trouble Against Loyola College Prep

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stanley, Northwood was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Loyola College Prep Flyers. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now won five in a row.

Devan Ashby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Jagers was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Loyola College Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Northwood will venture away from home to square off against North Webster at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loyola College Prep, they will welcome Southwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
