Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Arcadia Raiders
The Sparta Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Arcadia Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sparta is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Even though Sparta has not done well against Tomah recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Sparta took down Tomah 59-41. The win was just what Sparta needed coming off of a 89-37 defeat in their prior match.
Sparta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elexa Jones out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Tripp, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Arcadia suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a tough 64-39 loss at the hands of Onalaska. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arcadia in their matchups with Onalaska: they've now lost eight in a row.
Sparta's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Everything came up roses for Sparta against Arcadia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 82-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sparta since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
