Volleyball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Greenbrier Christian Academy entered their contest against Cape Henry Collegiate on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Gators came up short against the Dolphins, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dolphins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in August.

While Greenbrier Christian Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Cape Henry Collegiate's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 26-24.

Sarah Saunders paced Greenbrier Christian Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Saunders got some help from Elle Gullickson and her 14 assists. Gullickson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Greenbrier Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Gateway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, they will head out to face off against Walsingham Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
