Recap: Hamlin Pied Pipers vs. Aspermont Hornets
The Hamlin Pied Pipers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 36-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aspermont. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hamlin in their matchups with Aspermont: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Hamlin still got an impressive performance from AJ Rivera, who scored 11 points. Ian Gruben was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Aspermont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaxon Hodges led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Hodges' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Seth Johnson, who scored 14 points.
Hamlin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Aspermont, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-4.
Hamlin will head out on the road to face off against Throckmorton at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Aspermont, they will face off against Texas Leadership Charter Academy - Abilene at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
