Baseball Recap: Quapaw Wildcats vs. Copan Hornets
While Quapaw's victory against Copan wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Quapaw Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Copan Hornets 14-13. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Jace Gregory was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Gregory was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Quapaw let Cooper Welch and Jaxon Myrick run wild. Welch scored four runs while going 4-for-5, while Myrick scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Welch a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Parker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.
The win got Quapaw back to even at 2-2.
Coming up, Quapaw will be playing at home against Wyandotte at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Quapaw has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Copan, they will square off against Barnsdall at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Barnsdall will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Copan surely won't give up without a fight.
