Football Recap: Danny Cain's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burlingame over Madison/Hamilton

After flying high against Waverly last Friday, Burlingame came back down to earth. The Bearcats took a hard 42-26 fall against the Madison/Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Burlingame's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danny Cain, who rushed for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 205 yards on 18 of 32 attempts. The Bearcats also got help from Drake Skirvin, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Burlingame fell to 2-1. As for Madison/Hamilton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Burlingame will take on Centre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison/Hamilton, they will challenge Yates Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
