Baseball Recap: Long Branch's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Long Branch's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the East Side Red Raiders as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Havier Gonzalez and Kellen Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Long Branch is undefeated when Gonzalez posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hoogmoed, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Long Branch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Long Branch's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for East Side, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Coming up, Long Branch will challenge Middletown North at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for East Side, they will face off against Newark Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Terries will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Red Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
