Recap: Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks vs. North Eagles
The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against North, falling 86-53. Blackville-Hilda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-26.
Despite the defeat, Blackville-Hilda saw an underclassman step up: Messiah Mcfadden scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Berry, who scored five points.
Stetson Stacks was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals for North. Stacks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaleil Way, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Blackville-Hilda's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for North, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Blackville-Hilda will head out on the road to face off against Denmark-Olar at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Denmark-Olar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blackville-Hilda in South Carolina (Denmark-Olar is ranked 86th, while Blackville-Hilda is ranked 254th). As for North, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Calhoun County at 7:30 p.m. Calhoun County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
