Hayden Billie looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Karsyn Mootz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anayeli Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Evangelical Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwest Florida Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on Canterbury with a sharp 11-3 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the King's considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Aubrey Reilly was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Olivia Tyler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Evangelical Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Evangelical Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Evangelical Christian took their victory against Southwest Florida Christian in their previous matchup last Thursday by a conclusive 9-1 score. Do the Sentinels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the King's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
