Spirit Lake came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Newell-Fonda Mustangs. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 9-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Spirit Lake's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Newell-Fonda, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spirit Lake will host Sioux Center on Monday. As for Newell-Fonda, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sioux Central on Monday.
