Basketball Recap: Weldon Valley Triumphs

On Tuesday, the Weldon Valley Warriors didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory.

August Filter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 14 en route to 26 points. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Zander Braun, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Blake Harris, who went 9 of 16 from beyond the arc to rack up 27 points. Those 27 points gave Harris a new career-high. Gavin Borchardt was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine boards and four blocks.

Weldon Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weldon Valley will take on Twin Peaks Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they will face off against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is facing Sheridan at the right time seeing as Sheridan is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
