Softball Recap: Pittsfield Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

There's no place like home for Pittsfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Nute Rams a 19-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 15 runs or more this season.

Alex Penney made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chelsee Chagnon was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alivia Lavigne, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Pittsfield's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Nute, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
